Proof That I Do Stuff

Houston Conference + Menil Museum

In the wake of the IDSA South District Conference and the IPC, the Houston Design Conference was a very modest one, encompassing two industrial design programs: ours and the University of Houston’s. In many ways, our two schools parallel each other and became somewhat of sister programs over time. So much so that our student led chapters are actually seen as one by the national IDSA. Although so much smaller in size and scope, this more intimate gathering of creatives really proved to be wonderfully beneficial in terms of exposure, knowledge, networking, and perspective. It gave us a sense of size regarding the industry we were preparing to break into and a new perspective that these other students, our peers, would also be those we would soon work with (or against). While South District and the IPC introduced us to the industry of today, the Houston Design Conference in a way introduced us to the industry of tomorrow.

As part of this conference, we took a field trip to the Menil Museum - a beautiful gallery of traveling and permanent works from around the world. If you ever find yourself in Houston, I highly recommend dropping in! They have a great gift shop, too.
