Brussels, Belgium
Brussels was a whirlwind trip for us - all four of us actually. Olivia, Josh, Brandi, and I took a Megabus west for the day to check out this capital city, and it did not disappoint. Brussels is a very interesting melting pot of culture and ethnicity, dominated by french in terms of percentage but followed quickly by many others. The city plays host to a slew of open air markets, in line with the rest of Europe, but somehow does so in a way more natural than other countries seem to manage. It’s as if Brussels was the precedent from which all other cities learned. They were everywhere, but they felt like they always had been, as if they had been operating for hundreds of years… which I guess was probably the case. I bought some clay earrings from a local artists at one of these markets as a souvenir for my mom.
Naturally, we had one main item on our list for the day that couldn’t be compromised… and that was finding a true Belgium waffle. The search took us though the end of our day, eventually resulting in a fuffy, chocolate laced waffle. Although we succeeded, I’m not sure I’d be able to tell you the difference from say any other fancy waffle back home… but it was really, really great nonetheless 🤷🏼♂️
It was here actually that we said goodbye to Josh and Olivia, as they were off to their next stop - Paris. Brandi and I finished off the evening in a small little park side restaurant of which I can’t remember the name. All in all, a successful trip and another day down.
